California Highlights 2019

This series of images was captured during a trip to the US in November 2019.

The trip began in the city of South San Francisco with a visit to the Wind harp. Perched on a hilltop above an industrial park, this striking 92-foot-tall sculpture by Aristides Demetrios is one of the world’s largest aeolian harps. Next, we visited Mariposa on our way Yosemite National Park; a location I was eager to revisit following my very profitable trip in 2013. We also revisited Mono Lake and the ghost town of Bodie. I even managed to capture the Milky Way in nearby Mammoth Lakes. From there we made our way to the Alabama Hills and the Bristlecone Pine forest. Death Valley, one of the lowest places on earth was next on our itinerary. Our final few days took us west to the Pacific coastline were we photographed locations such as Big Sur, Morro Bay, the Carmel Mission, and Waddell Beach. The trip ended in San Francisco. Its iconic waterfront that looks out onto ‘The Bay’ and, of course, the Golden Gate Bridge, which was made all the more photogenic by a sea fret. The trip was organised by my good friend Roger Reynolds at Photoventures (photoventures.co.uk)
