Luminous Landscape - Grand Canyon Expedition

This series of images was captured during a trip to the US in May 2002.

In May 2002 I was privileged to participate in a photographic expedition organised by Michael Reichmann of Luminous Landscape. The workshop involved rafting the length of the Colorado River between Lees Ferry and Pearce Ferry, approximately 270 miles downstream. Given the lack of facilities to recharge batteries I decided not to bring my Canon EOS D30 digital camera; instead opting for the Canon EOS 1V and its immediate predecessor the EOS1N. Lenses ranged from a Sigma 14mm super wide angle through to a Canon 100-400 IS zoom. I don't think there was any lens that didn't get used although my recently acquired Canon 24mm Tilt Shift saw more than its fair share of use. I shot 32 rolls of Fuji Provia F 100 transparency film. The original photos have been scanned a number of times over the years, the last being 2010 using a Nikon Coolscan 4000 with LaserSoft SilverFast software. So far as possible I've tried to title the images to show their location along the length of the river. If you spot a mistake, I'd be more than happy to fix it. My email address can be found on the front page of the site. (Ian Lyons - June 2015)
